The tenor dazzled with an impressive and extremely demanding program, performing ten great tenor arias from the fringes of the spinto and dramatic repertoire. He captivated with his bravura, technique, and depth of interpretation. The artist’s immense commitment was striking, as was his intelligent performance – beautiful, refined singing without straining the voice or unnecessary effects so often associated with the tenor repertoire. There was no ostentatious „holding” of high notes for effect’s sake. Everything was subordinated to the music and drama. (Orfeo)
