Weiss highlights the dark side of the titular character. „’Falstaff’ is treated as a comedy, but underneath we can see a bitter reality. This is what I try to show in my play,” he explained. „For me, Falstaff is an angry old man who did a lot of harm in his life. He killed people, raped, murdered, and robbed. And this is what he taught little Henry, the future king of England. When Henry became ruler, he got rid of Falstaff because he wanted nothing to do with his scoundrel past. Falstaff experienced this very painfully; he couldn’t shake it,” he emphasized.

Therefore, Weiss treats Falstaff as a man striving for death. „He wanted death to come to him in a playful way. In this, he reminds me of Petronius from Henryk Sienkiewicz’s „Quo Vadis,” who invited his friends to a feast and slit his wrists,” he said. „Death doesn’t come the way we want it to,” he added.
