This is the first production of this work at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, and Mariusz Treliński’s first production on this stage after his long collaboration with set designer Boris Kudlička. Theatrically, the production is disappointing, musically delightful. Nadja Stefanoff delivers an outstanding interpretation of Ariadne, and the orchestra, conducted by Lothar Koenigs, sounds superb.
