Izabela Matuła emphasized that this production of Moniuszko’s opera is highly emotional. „It draws one hundred percent of the emotion from every singer-actor,” she said. According to the soprano, although the action of „Halka,” directed by Mariusz Treliński, was set in the 1970s, we feel that these are very contemporary times. „Here we have social tensions due to financial status. It’s no longer a social misalliance. We have Janusz, who is trying to ingratiate himself with a wealthy family, that is, to increase his financial status.
