„Choreographer Meryl Tankard and visual artist Régis Lansac invited us into a world of shadows, or silent cinema. We watch the dancers on screen, their silhouettes changing dimensions, approaching and receding, creating a film before the audience’s eyes. Despite the lack of contact with the orchestra and audience, they conjured a series of fantastic images, sometimes witty, other times melancholic, subordinated to the musical crescendo. Meryl Tankard’s 1998 take on the Wrocław stage two years ago. It returned for a new evening, inspiring both delight and doubt – the viewer sees the dancing shadows of the artists moving in the light of projectors behind curtains. It feels like an animation, at times enchanting, but unemotional. It begins with a procession of tiptoeing „Spanish” dancers in lace dresses and with characteristic combs in their hair. It’s more interesting when the choreographer creates dehumanized forms from the shadows – headless figures, grotesque or poetic. (Katarzyna Gardzina Ruch Muzyczny)
