The Polish premiere of this work is a huge success for Krzysztof Garstka and the culmination of a journey he has been on with Capella Regia Polona, ​​which he has led since 2018, showcasing the full richness of this exquisite score. Director Natalia Babińska followed the lead set in her recent production of The Magic Flute at the Castle Opera in Szczecin – creating a universal story, albeit with references to Enlightenment ideas, about power over the world and over the individual. The motto is: „I have the courage to use reason, therefore I am,” because the titular character is not a shepherd, but an astronomer, and it is precisely this knowledge that gives him the strength to fight for his dreams and love.
