The highlight of the new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s „Don Carlo” was Rafał Siwek’s portrayal of King Philip II, a monarch torn between unhappy love and duty to state and religion. The premiere at the Wrocław Opera coincided with the 25th anniversary of this magnificent bass, who began his singing career at this very theatre with the role of Ferrando in „Il Trovatore.” (Orfeo)
