I think „Simon Boccanegra” is, above all, a story about the disintegration of the world, family, and interpersonal bonds. It’s also an attempt to come to terms with death. I wanted to show that despite the climate catastrophe and the apocalypse that is upon us, human emotions and feelings can bring hope. However, I don’t want to offer simple explanations.
