Finally, Halka appears on stage. Justyna Khil enchants with her voice from the very first phrases. She sings with a beautiful tone, lyrical when necessary, naive when necessary, dramatic when necessary. She shockingly reaches into her chest register twice. Thanks to her vocal beauty and technique, the artist can focus solely on interpreting the part, and her interpretation is moving, incredibly sincere, and convincing. Her love, devotion, naivety, madness, resignation, despair, and hopelessness always ring true. She can be flirtatious, perhaps even silly at times, but always sincere. The opera’s final scene, when Halka departs with a doll in her arms, is poignant. Justyna Khil doesn’t even need to sing to be moving, having sung all the emotions in the preceding scene. (Orfeo).
